Two days in Athens, the capital of Greece, has left me with a taste of more. Vivid and vibrant, it's the perfect place for a short weekend, with well-designed cafes, tavernas, shopping street and of course, the Acropolis. A short flight from Tel-Aviv (1.5 hours) and you're about to enjoy yourself in this beautiful city. Enjoy your reading!
Since everything is a minute's walk, you can see and visit the attractions in a few hours. My recommendation is to start first with the Acropolis early in the morning before it's too crowded with visitors.
VISIT, DO AND SEE
I've got to tell you that I was pretty surprised by the places for drinks and food in Athens. First, they have many beautiful decorative restaurants and bars to seat in. And secondly, the food is very very good! Favorite places you shouldn't miss :
The Noel Bar
The discovery of our trip! This place works from morning till night and serves breakfast, lunch, tapas dishes and fine Italian dishes - all alongside a glass of wine or tasty cocktail! We sat next to the Bar, and the atmosphere was just perfect, with jazz and blues music playing in the background, great cocktails and one truffle pizza that we couldn't even finish. Make sure to reserve a table in advance!
Wow, what a place! No photo or video could prepare you for the beauty and magic that exists in this place! You will find the concept of "Christmas" and "Alice in Wonderland", on every floor, room and in the smallest details. The food, although looking kitschy, is tasty! It was a great refreshing stop along the way, combined with delicious blueberry cheesecake and a small coffee on the side
Small, traditional Greek donuts which considered to be the oldest patisserie in the 'whole world! They're usually served with honey and cinnamon, but you can also order the donuts with various fillings and additions: Chocolate Nutella, Oreo, Almonds and much more.
Tazza Bistro Bar and Bistro
Next to the main shopping street, you will find this lovely coffee house! The place is designed with large and colorful lampshades, plenty of flowers, strong colors, sculptures, and many different decorations. Stunning place for a drink and a light snack if you want to take a little break from shopping.
The primary clothing shopping street for Athens. It contains many of the big international names like Marks & Spencer, H&M, Zara, Berksha, Sephora, and a bunch of other stores. In the street itself, it's hard to find a place for a little break, so if you're looking for some cafes, bars or restaurants, they are all in the streets next to the Ermou.
If you're looking for a weekend getaway then, Athens is a great place to spend a 48 hours, with sites and attractions you're able to do in a little time. From historic sites, delicious food, tasty drinks and, shopping, this city has a lot to offer!
