After visiting Chiang Rai, we took a bus of 2.5 hours drive to Chiang Mai, the largest city in northern Thailand and the capital of Chiang Mai Province. There's a lot to see and do in the city but since we were short in time, we had some must's that we really wanted to see and do. Below you will find where to stay, eat and what you must do.

A Northern Thai Buddhist temple in which the name refers to the mountain where it's located. It is a sacred site for many Thai people, located 15 kilometers from the city and situated on top of the mountain. You can climb 309 steps to reach the pagoda or take a tram. Kindly note that you have to dress appropriately and remove your shoes. Inside the area, you will find pagodas, statues, bells and the holiest area which is the gold plated Chedi. Walk around the site and you will see an amazing view of Chiang Mai.
Welcome to Karen Hilltribe, the place where the Karen people in Northern Thailand put together their elephant care skills to show the world how they have with elephants a long history together for generations. Only a 1.20-hour ride from Chiang mai city and you're able to visit the sanctuary for a day or two. We had a really good time with these gentle and beautiful creators! There, in the natural living environment, we walked with them, gave them a nice bath and fed them.
The House By Ginger
OK, So this is one of my favorite restaurants that we visited while in Thailand. First of all, the place is beautiful, decorated with warm and cozy elements which make you fill like home. The food was delicious! We had to order the traditional northern Thai dish, the Khao Soi which was amazing! Make sure to visit this great restaurant while in Chiang Mai!
Looking for some shopping in the evening? The Night Bazaar of Chiang Mai is a must-visit market, opening daily from 18:00-22:30. Located at the intersection of Chang Khlan Road and Loi Khro Road but spreads out for two blocks in either direction. You can find clothes, bags, wallets, spices ( we bought a tom yam spices!), crafts, and, more!
